Affordable Observation: Vortex Crossfire HD Spotting Scope
Posted by Cory Ross on Jun 13th 2024
Observation, whether while hunting, shooting, or surveillance, is an important skill to hone. It helps you be a better hunter and shooter. Unfortunately, quality spotting scopes can be expensive. More importantly, it’s not just the optic, it’s also the tripod, a carrying case, and sometimes different eyepieces with advanced-ranging reticles inside that make up the system. All of it adds up quickly. Luckily, Vortex has introduced the Crossfire HD Spotting Scope to fill a void in the market that’s been long needed.
Crossfire HD
The new Crossfire HD spotter comes in three different magnification ranges and offers straight or angled eyepiece options. The magnification ranges are as follows: 12-36x, 16-48x, and 20-60x. With increasing magnification comes increasing- weight, respectfully 31oz, 44 oz, and 53 oz. For features, the optics come with Vortex’s HD optical system that delivers exceptional resolution while cutting chromatic aberration. The lenses are also multicoated to aid in light transmission and glare. The optics have Vortex’s Helical Focus for fast and fine focus adjustments and the spotters are all ARCA-Swiss compatible to work with a wide range of tripods.
However, the best part about these optics is the price. The smaller magnification optic’s street pricing is $199.99 and climbs to $299.99 for the higher magnification model. That’s a ton of value and a missing niche in the spotting scope market. The only thing this kit is lacking is a tripod. Vortex offers a plethora of tripods for various applications but doesn’t include a tripod to help keep costs down while allowing the end user to find one that fits their needs.
Final Thoughts
As mentioned above, the Vortex Crossfire HD Spotting Scope is an excellent value. Previously, most spotters in this price range sacrificed features to keep costs down. Instead, Vortex created a thoughtful product for the budget-conscious user. Not to mention, Vortex's VIP warranty covers the Crossfire HD Spotting Scopes, so the owner never has to worry. These will be available immediately.
